Exploring Treatment Options to Refresh, Renew, and Rejuvenate Your Skin

You’ve probably heard a friend or colleague rave about the benefits of their latest facial treatment. “It cured my dry skin!” “I feel so refreshed!” “My skin looks so much better now!”

Maybe you’re thinking about getting a facial yourself—great idea! But it’s important to understand that not all facials are created equal, and that what works for one person might not be a good fit for your unique skincare needs.

The good news is that there are plenty of facial options out there to help you achieve your skincare goals! From fine lines and wrinkles to moisturizing and skin tightening, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.

How Facials Work

According to the International Spa Association, facials are the third most popular spa treatment. And for good reason!

Facial treatments help moisturize, tighten, and cleanse the skin; they can also open pores, remove lines and wrinkles, and help your skin look and feel its best. No two treatments or procedures are exactly alike, each designed for a specific purpose. Some might come in the form of a crème or paste applied to your face, while others may require complex, high-tech equipment to stimulate your skin.

Typically, a skincare professional will assess your skin before making a recommendation during the consultation process. This allows clinics like SKINS Derma Care to offer customized treatment options tailored to your individual needs.

When you come to Skins Derma Care for a special treatment, we provide a pre-consultation to find the best treatment for your skin type.

Treatment Options

Traditional Facials

These are the classic product-applied-to-skin procedures you probably think about when you imagine a facial treatment—cucumber slices over the eyes optional!

There are many different facial treatments available for all skin types, some allowing for more frequent treatment than others.

For example, our Pure Vitamin C Infusion removes wrinkles and lines to promote the growth of collagen. This facial revitalizes and renews your skin, leaving you with a glowing complexion. The GM Collin Botinol procedure, meanwhile, reduces lines and wrinkles on your face.

And that’s not all. There are also treatment options to hydrate facial skin, such as the Eminence Signature Treatment, while others focus on purifying and cleansing your skin. Some of these options are tailored towards preventing acne breakouts, while others offer a perfect solution for oily or dry skin.

Chemical Peels

Chemical peels, meanwhile, aren’t exactly facials, but are generally geared towards facial skin. Whereas facials focus on improving existing skin cells, chemical peels gently remove the outermost layers of damaged or worn skin, hence the name.

The end result is smoother skin that looks and feels younger and revitalized. These treatments can even improve discoloration and mild scarring, and are frequently used to treat sun-damaged skin, wrinkles, and acne. Generally, you can get a peel every four to six weeks, depending on the treatment type and how your skin reacts.

What Are Photofacial Treatments?

You might have heard of photofacials, too. Photofacials are facials that use light-based technology to fade brown spots, boost collagen growth, and remove small damaged veins. These treatments can clear up blemishes and acne, reduce freckles, and fine lines.

They’re a bit of an edge case for facials, as they rely on advanced technology to deliver results. And what’s more, you likely won’t see immediate, final results after a single appointment. Photofacials gradually improve your skin over the course several treatment sessions. That said, we’re including them here because they offer impressive results that target issues other facial treatments otherwise don’t handle or don’t quite work for.

By using intense pulsed light, photofacials deliver bright light energy to your face using a handheld device. This light is converted to heat energy as it’s trapped by facial veins or the pigment in sunspots and other discoloration, which in turn causes them to coagulate and break down before the body reabsorbs them. It’s a completely non-invasive treatment that helps trigger your body’s natural healing response, stimulating collage production.

How Often Can I Get a Facial?

On average, you can get a facial treatment once a month. But how long do your results last for?

Due to the skin’s healing and production cycle, the results should also last for that full month. Of course, this also depends on your lifestyle and skin type. We recommend limiting sun exposure after a facial and avoiding washing your face for the first 24 hours after your treatment. You can apply some moisturizers, though.

Of course, no matter your skin type, the experts at SKINS Derma Care will help you develop a good skin care routine at home that will compliment and support your in-clinic treatments.
