Frequently Asked Questions
How do I prepare for waxing?
Start by ensuring your skin is free of redness, inflammation, or minor cuts. Waxing requires healthy, clear skin to work effectively. Before your treatment, take some time to exfoliate the area you’re having waxed to remove dead skin cells and unclog pores. This will help you get optimal results.
Will waxing work on a shaved area?
Waxing is not an ideal treatment for an area that’s already been shaved. Let the hair grow out prior to waxing, just enough that it will actually be caught by the wax. Consult with your clinician before treatment to determine an appropriate length of hair.
Can I moisturize the treatment area?
Yes, you can! In fact, we suggest moisturizing prior to treatment to ensure the hair follicles are soft. This will help make it easier to remove the hair.
Can I return to normal activities after treatment?
Generally speaking, you can return to normal activities after waxing, but you should avoid swimming in a chlorinated pool or using a spa or sauna for at least 24 hours after treatment. Also, skip tanning for at least a week following treatment. If you’ve had waxing in intimate areas, avoid hot showers immediately after the appointment. The heat will open up your pores and increase your chance of getting an infection.
Are there any post-treatment procedures I should follow?
Use a gentle moisturizer on the treatment area to keep the skin soft. Moisturizing will also keep growing hairs soft, helping to prevent ingrown hairs. If you’re prone to ingrown hairs, though, don’t worry–we’ve got a variety of products that we can recommend to help treat this issue at home.
