About Limelight Photofacial Treatments

Are you frustrated with persistent pigmentation issues or facial veins? Limelight® is the solution you’ve been looking for.

This non-invasive photofacial treatment works by delivering intense pulsed light (IPL) to the target area, causing unwanted veins to coagulate and collapse. This also causes the brown pigments from sunspots and other red pigments in your skin to slough off or break down for reabsorption into the body.

The high-intensity pulses also eliminate damaged cells and trigger your body’s natural healing response, stimulating new collagen production and growth at the same time. The end result is the development of healthy new cells and an overall rejuvenation of your skin. In short, lasting youthful looks are restored!

At SKINS Derma Care, we offer a variety of Limelight® treatments to provide exceptional skin tone and texture to areas beyond the face. Treatment is highly effective on the hands, chest, and arms. We also offer a unique Photo Genesis treatment option, combining the best of IPL Limelight and Laser Genesis treatments. Photo Genesis is a fantastic rejuvenating treatment, ideal for colour correction and addressing photodamage. It also treats stubborn redness, inflammation, and bacteria, and can even provide an alternative to vein therapy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Am I a good candidate for IPL treatment?

Do you have rosacea, flushing, redness, an otherwise ruddy complexion, or spider veins visible on your face? If so, IPL treatment might be a solution. If you have unwanted sunspots, age spots, freckles, or hyperpigmentation, or chronic sun damage, this treatment can help you restore clean, clear, and refreshed skin.

What skin tones respond well to IPL treatment?

Never perform an IPL treatment on tanned skin, whether it’s natural or artificial. IPL treatments have been successful on a variety of skin tones, but as with every treatment, we recommend coming in for a consultation to determine the best course for your individual case and needs.

Is treatment painful?

Each pulse of light feels like a mild pinch or sting. Though, pain medication and management is usually not necessary. The treatment typically lasts approximately 30 minutes, depending on the treatment area.

How many treatments do I need?

Generally, 4 to 6 treatments are necessary, with treatment occurring every 3 weeks. Improvements are typically visible within two to three weeks of your initial treatment, but the full course of treatment is recommended to get the most of your photofacial.

How long do results last for?

A full series of treatment can last upwards of a year.

Are there any side effects?

Mild swelling may occur following a treatment, and dark sunspots may appear darker. These are totally normal and will resolve quickly as the brown spots slough off.

*Results may vary from person to person based on body size, body type, and other factors.
