How does Latisse™ work?

Latisse™ extends the length of the growth phase for your eyelashes and increases the total number of hairs that grow during this phase.

Is Latisse™ safe? Are there any side effects?

Latisse™ is both FDA and Health Canada-approved to help grow eyelashes. The most common side effect or complication, affecting approximately 4% of patients, is itchiness around the eyes or some redness. A smaller percentage of patients may experience some skin darkening, eye irritation, or eye dryness. Other parts of your skin that come into contact with Latisse™ may also experience irregular hair growth. If the serum comes into contact with other parts of your face, simply blot the area with a tissue or sterile cotton pad to help prevent this from happening.

When will I see results?

It usually takes around 8 weeks, or 2 months, for full results to show. At this point, most patients using Latisse™ use “maintenance” doses to maintain results, only applying two or three times a week instead of once daily.

Why do I need a prescription?

Health Canada and the FDA have approved Latisse™ for eyelash growth treatment and determined that only physicians can provide it as a prescription.

I have contact lenses. Can I still use Latisse™?

Yes! Contacts are not an issue, but should be removed prior to application. Wait 15 minutes after you’ve applied your daily dose before re-inserting your contact lenses.

What if I get some of the serum in my eye?

Because Latisse™ is an ophthalmic solution, it shouldn’t cause any problems if it gets into your eye. We still don’t recommend it, however. If this happens, blot your eye dry with a tissue to remove the serum.

Help! I missed a dose! What do I do?

Don’t worry! If you’ve missed a dose, or can’t apply a dose for whatever reason, it’s not the end of the world. Don’t try to catch up or double down on doses. Simply maintain your usual dosage schedule and stay on schedule as much as you can for best results.

What happens if I stop using Latisse™?

Unfortunately, Latisse™ is not a permanent fix for thin, short eyelashes. When you stop taking Latisse™, your lashes will gradually return to their original length and thickness as part of their usual growth cycle. This will occur over several weeks or months.
